Hello, I’m Gloria West, author of Your Best Holiday Travel Guide – Experience France The Fun Way!
Born in Bulgaria during the communism, I wasn’t allowed to travel. Not just that, anything that had a hint of western culture to it was taboo. So much so that you could go to prison just for listening to a western radio station. It was even problematic to wear jeans at school or for boys to have long hair.
Of course, my goal of studying music couldn’t be achieved while living in my small country side town so I left home at the age of 13 and enrolled myself in a music school in the city to learn to play the piano.
Soon after, I got a bachelor degree in music. However, around the time I finished university, computers had started becoming the new hype and became quite accessible and easy for the public to use. This opened up a whole new world of possibilities and I started studying to be a graphic designer. I spent 10 years working as a graphic designer until I moved to the UK.
As a temporary job here, I worked in a care home. However, upon completing of a management program, I started training to become a care home manager. Upon seeing my potential, I was promoted to Manager of a very prestigious and expensive care home and a trainer of care home managers before that.
While working at the care home, I started being fascinated by magic and decided to become a magician. There was a lot at stake when I took this decision as I had quite an impressive salary package at the care home and I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to earn the same as a magician.
But determined to become a professional magician, I worked for 4 years in the field and created 4 magic tricks that were sold to magicians world-wide. Soon I saw an opportunity to start my own business which I took and developed it for 2 and a half years.
However, I decided that I wanted to focus on my books and decided to sell my business.
I knew I could achieve anything I put my mind to. But there was still one dream that I never quite got the time to achieve and that was to travel everywhere and anywhere. I want to explore our world and see all the beautiful places that are out there.
Starting off with a car journey around Europe, I found myself in France and fell in love with the beauty of the country and the idea of this book was born.
Now, I want to see more countries and other continents, which is a dream I’m going to be fulfilling next. With that, I’m also going to start working on my next books so be sure to follow me and subscribe to the newsletter to stay updated about all that’s yet to come!
